The procedures for this mediation are set out in Articles L. 611-1 et seq. and R. 612-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code, which stipulate in particular that :

- It is the responsibility of the Principal to demonstrate that they have made a written complaint to the Agent as a first step in resolving their dispute.
- Should you wish to make a complaint, it must be submitted to the mediator no later than one year after the date on which it was first submitted in writing to the professional concerned.
- The mediator, who must be registered on the list of mediators approved by the Commission d’Evaluation et de Contrôle de la Médiation, carries out his or her task diligently and competently. The mediator is independent and impartial, and carries out his or her duties within the framework of a transparent, effective and fair procedure.
